 The Jackie Robinson Memorial Ballpark or the City Island Ballpark as it is known is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Daytona Beach. A historic baseball field, the Ballpark is located at City Island in Halifax River.
Built way back in 1914, the ballpark has a capacity to hold as many as 4,200 people & is home of the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats & Daytona Clubs. The reason for the stadium to be named after Jackie Robinson is attributed to the fact that Daytona was Florida’s first city to have allowed Robinson to play at the time of 1946 season’s spring training. Located right in the heart of downtown Daytona Beach, Jackie Robinson Memorial Ballpark is known not just for its historic association but also for its scenic surroundings. While the city marina on the southeast of ballpark serves as the perfect backdrop, the downtown & waterfront on the southwest are equally picturesque. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the ballpark today hosts numerous baseball leagues. In case you plan to attend an evening game at the park, then remember to check out the grandstand section for the most comfortable seats. Popularly served snacks at the park include hot dogs.
