Located not very far from Daytona Beach is the Marine Science Center at Lighthouse Point Park in Ponce Inlet. The affordably-priced Marine Science Center has since its opening in 2002 been providing an innovative & fun learning experience for visitors. Though a small center, the museum attracts thousands of local & international tourists from across the world. While here, there is a lot you can do. Start your tour with a visit to the exhibit gallery or see hundreds of invertebrates & local fishes in the 5,000 gallon aquarium housed within the museum. Wander ahead past the mangroves to catch a glimpse of dune habitats & alligators. Other interesting exhibits at the museum include the whale & dolphin anatomical exhibits, coral propagation tanks, etc. One of the significant parts of the Marine Science Center is the Mary Keller Seabird Rehabilitation Sanctuary that offers frequent treatment to thousands of area birds. However, the most fascinating attraction of the museum remains to be the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Area. This center takes care of thousands of young & adult turtles including washbacks & hatchlings. Numerous guided tours are organized for the museum & the area around Ponce Inlet.
